Club Racing

Jostling for position in a Sunday morning pursuit

Sailing takes place all year.

We run a full programme of racing in a variety of formats. We even have appropriately named series for those hardy enough to sail all through the winter.  You can see who some of these brave souls are, on our Results page.

Scroll down to see the dates for all the races, or our What’s On? page for more details.  Race start times for boats classes are here.

If you are on duty for a race, either Club Racing or an Open Meeting, find out more about your role on our Duties page.

Race Format

The 20219/20 Pursuit Racing Format is based on the Laser 4.7 class as a 58 min race duration. If a boat races with a PY rating start time earlier than the 58 minute race Warning Signal, (e.g. Topper) then the race will be for a 64 min duration and all timings will change accordingly.

It is the competitor's responsibility to be aware of their own start times respectively. These are displayed on the club noticeboard.

*(One as Bart’s Bash (handicap))

Races to follow at the discretion of the OOD/CO for back to back racing if necessary.

Race Qualification

We run a range of series for racing, and race all year.  The year really starts with the St David’s Day Regatta in March, hence our ‘Racing Year’ starts with the Spring Series, rather than on the 1 January.

In order to qualify for a series, a minimum number of races need to be sailed within that series. 40% of the number of races sailed, rounded UP where necessary - e.g. if 21 races sailed, 9 will count; if 16 races sailed, 7 will count.
