Inter Fleet Team Race
7th October 2006
This annual event continues to attract strong competition amongst the fleets and this year four fleets competed for the trophy.
There was no Junior Fleet this year but several junior sailors turned up and places were found for them in most of the races.
The day started with winds of Force 4 gusting 5 which was a little more than was needed for a team event.
However by the time of the first race the winds had eased to Force 3 and remained around this strength for the duration of the event.
The first race between Lasers and Solos was quickly dominated by the Lasers who recorded places 1,2 and 3.
The next race between Lasers and Fireballs was hotly contested and although a Fireball was first home it was the Lasers with places 2,3 and 4 who won the race.
In Race 3 the Fireballs has a close win over the GPs securing first, second and fifth places.
Race 4 saw a convincing win for the GPs over the Solo fleet.
Race 5 saw a final defeat for he Solos who lost to the Fireballs.
With Race 6 approaching the results so far read:
Lasers 2 wins, Fireballs 2 wins and GPs 1 win. However with the last race being between the Lasers and the GPs a win for the GPs would have meant three fleets with 2 wins each and the prospect of a series of 'play offs' to determine the overall winner.
It was not to be and in Race 6 the Lasers took places 1,2 and 4 to win the race and with it the event.

Final Placings were:
1st Lasers
2nd Fireballs
3rd GPs
4th Solos

Many thanks to all who took part and particular thanks to Sabina Townend who acted as A.O.D. with great skill throught the event.
